“Our Favorite Christmas… Live”

New Release

This program began when the singers voted on their favorite Holiday pieces from all the seasons the Society has been together (7 as a matter of fact).   As would be expected, there were several well known numbers chosen plus some lesser known Christmas carols.  As the director I was surprised by some of the selections but pleased with every choice.  In concert we invited the audience to journey with us in time and space to a place where, perhaps, these favorite songs were heard for the very first time.   We truly enjoyed every concert and hope that you will share in our joy as you listen.

Love!

Love! What a fascinating subject; the myriad faces of love have been explored by philosophers, poets and musicians for millennia.  In this CD of A Cappella voices we want to share with you some of our own musical explorations of love.  Our program opens with the reminder that to bless and be blessed is the law of love from the Shaker Hymn Give Good Gifts (1893). We follow with three songs expressing our appreciation to the Creator for the gift of singing. Throughout the rest of the program will be our offerings to Love for country, place and even love for the open road.  Of course, romantic love has been around since the very beginnings of history and our musical offerings to Eros and other gods of love span the last 500 years.. We conclude our program with the remembrance of love lost. From the tongue in cheek Adieu mes amours (1480) to the bitter-sweet anguish of Danny Boy (1913) and in closing giving you, our audience, the blessing May You Go Forth In Love (2000).

This CD is “so full of the season’s meaning that my Christmas Spirit award goes to Christmasse Comes But Once A Year from the Montana A Cappella Society. The MACS are a bunch of amateurs who love to sing together…pretty darn good singers who like to put on period dress and sing Christmas carols…I’ve invited them all to Wisconsin.”
